The CLOCK C3111T polymorphism is associated with reward dependence in healthy Japanese subjects.

Tsuchimine S, Yasui-Furukori N, Kaneda A and Kaneko S. Neuropsychobiology. 2013; 67(1):1-5.

In order to determine the role of circadian rhythms in psychiatric disorders, a study in Japanese medical school students and staff without psychiatric illness (as diagnosed via DSM-IV) found that the rs1801260 SNP in the clock gene is related to reward dependance scores (as measured by the Temperament and Character Inventory).

Additionally, the direction of the relationship of this SNP to reward dependance is opposite in different sexes; in males (n=685) the SNP showed an increase in reward dependance scores while in females (n=535) it showed a decrease.
